The daughter of singer Wynonna Judd is blaming the devil after she was arrested for allegedly stealing a church van.
According to police records, Grace Kelley, 28, now faces seven criminal charges, including three counts of felony grand larceny. Additional charges include destruction of property, driving without a license, failure to use headlights and use of a vehicle with intent to commit a crime. This is her third arrest in 2024.
The incident involved a van belonging to Ground Zero Church of the Nazarene in Charlottesville.
“On October 27th, our green church van and trailer were stolen from in front of our pastor’s home by Grace Pauline Kelley,” Pastor Kent Hart stated. “Grace is currently in police custody. The van was damaged during the theft and after being inspected by a body shop, the insurance has determined it to be a total loss.”
During her arrest, Kelley told officers she “sold her soul to the devil,” according to police reports. The arresting officer noted concerns about possible substance use after jail staff observed something during Kelley’s body scan
“The van was damaged during the theft and after being inspected by a body shop, the insurance has determined it to be a total loss,” Hart wrote on a GoFundMe page that has raised over $4,500 for a replacement as of Dec. 4. The church meets in rented space and used the van to transport music equipment, cooking supplies for community needs, as well as children’s church supplies.
Hart pursued Kelley when he spotted the van leaving his driveway, following her to a local highway and attempted to stop her by blocking the road with his Chevy Yukon.
Now the church is moving on.
“We have forgiven Grace Kelley,” Hart said. “We’re just trusting the Lord to provide for our needs.” In a statement, the church quoted Matthew 5:44: “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
A spokesperson for the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail confirmed Kelley remains in custody.
