The Babylon Bee finds spiritual insights from Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce engagement

The engagement of pop star Taylor Swift and Chiefs player Travis Kelce dominated the news this week and put Kansas City on the map. The satirical website The Babylon Bee listed 10 ways that the power couple points people to Christ.

  1. Taylor Swift cannot dance, reminding us of how Jesus cannot sin: So poignant.
  2. Travis Kelce can call an army of refs to come protect him at any moment, just like Christ could call on legions of angels: The parallels are remarkable.
  3. Jesus is the Chief Priest, just like Travis Kelce is the Chief tight end: Mind-blowing.
  4. Taylor Swift famously wrote “Teardrops On My Guitar,” which recalls Jesus weeping at Lazarus’ death: It all points back to the Lord.
  5. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce both have Jewish agents, reminding us of Christ’s teaching that salvation comes through the Jews: The connections are almost too clear.
  6. We are all like Taylor Swift, the lost, confused girl, and Christ is our bridegroom, big, strong Travis Kelce: We can’t help but see ourselves in Tay Tay.
  7. The flowers surrounding the couple show us the Edenic state of communion with God that Jesus restores: The symbolism just hits home.
  8. The rock on her finger is approximately as large as the rock that covered Jesus’ tomb: Only something supernatural can roll away a stone of that size.
  9. In reference to the dust on their feet after preaching to an unbelieving town, Jesus told his followers to “Shake it off”: Taylor’s version reminds us to remain steadfast in our witness for the gospel.
  10. Jesus loved people who were despised and rejected: Just like the way Travis loves Taylor. So beautiful.

“The Bible really is telling the truth when it says you can see evidence of God and His plan all around you, even in the storybook romance of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift,” the story concluded.

Seth Dylan, CEO of The Babylon Bee, will be the keynote speaker at The Vitae Foundation’s pro-life dinner in Overland Park on October 21. For more information, visit Kansas City Pro-Life Dinner – Vitae Foundation.
