Israel on Tuesday said a Turkish-born American and pro-Palestinian protester was likely shot “indirectly and unintentionally” by its soldiers. The death of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi came during a violent riot against Israeli communities near Biblical Schechem, now known as the Arab city of Nablus.
She was provided a full military parade and burial by the Palestinian National Security Forces on Monday, September 9.
Her death occurred during a violent mob of dozens of Palestinian protesters at the Beita Junction, according to the IDF, which announced it is continuing its investigation.
The riot was near where Israeli citizens were murdered in their cars by terrorists and near where IDF soldiers have been killed at checkpoints. According to the Jerusalem Post, the altercation included dozens of Palestinians throwing rocks and burning tires at Israeli forces near Nablus.
Aysenur Ezgi Eygi was an activist with the anti-Israel International Solidarity Movement, reports JNS. The organization has been linked to Islamic terrorists and its employees have funneled funds to Hamas in the past, according to evidence presented in an Israeli court case involving the previous death of a different activist.
According to the pro-Palestinian website Middle East Monitor (MEM), Eygi wrote about the importance of the ummah, the global Muslim movement transcending national borders. “The ummah is important, I need to support my journey in full submission to Allah,” she previously wrote in a blog post.
The group she was protesting on behalf of has previously sheltered terrorists.
“The more alarming examples revealed in the report, senior Islamic Jihad terrorist Shadi Sukiya was arrested while hiding in ISM’s Jenin office in 2003, being assisted by two ISM activists. In 2008, ISM member Richard David Hupper was convicted by a U.S. federal jury of “giving about $20,000 to Hamas while working in Israel with the International Solidarity Movement” states Honest Reporting.
Media outlets have reported extensively on her death while overlooking the terror ties of the organization and its connection to violence against Jewish citizens in the area. Joe Biden expressed his outrage insisting her “idealism led her to travel to the West Bank to peacefully protest.”
