Ashcroft to headline pro-life rally in Jefferson City Tuesday

Former US Attorney General John Ashcroft will be the featured speaker at Missouri’s primary Pro-life event on Tuesday. Missourians are expected to show up in large numbers on Tuesday, March 10 for “Show Me Life” Action Day at the state capitol in Jefferson City .

The annual event, sponsored and organized by Missouri Right to Life,  brings people together from across the state with an opportunity to meet legislators, hear special speakers and rally in support of pro-life legislation including the unborn, elderly and adoption/foster opportunities.

The public is also invited to pray. “The event is not confrontational but rather conversational,” states organization director Susan Klein.

This year’s special speaker is former United States Attorney General and two-term Missouri Governor John Ashcroft.

Event organizers say attendees will be inspired by Ashcroft’s enthusiasm for Life and his work through the years to protect our most unalienable right – the right to life.

Ashcroft has been a prominent figure since he began a term as Missouri State Auditor in 1973. He went on to serve as Missouri Attorney General from 1977 – 1985 and Missouri Governor from 1985 – 1993. IN 1995 he began his only term as US Senator before he was nominated by President George Bush to serve as the US Attorney General. Ashcroft served in that capacity during 9/11 and was at the forefront of the investigation over that tragic event with the Justice Department prosecuting terrorists.
He retired in 2005 but has devoted his life to the work of the pro-life cause.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. with a Noon rally.

In addition to many adults, Christian schools across the state use the day as a civic lesson in involvement for their students sending many on buses with teachers.

Public transportation is available from many areas of the state.
