MidWest March for Life is Saturday

The ninth annual MidWest March for Life will take place this Saturday in Jefferson City at the Capitol.

Activities begin at 7:45 a.m. with the Capitol Prayer Walk. Those who wish to participate will meet in Capitol 1st floor rotunda.  Prayer cards will be distributed and Legislator’s and Executive Branch offices will be assigned to prayer teams.  The teams will then visit their assigned offices, pray for the Legislators, Executive officers, and families and staff, and leave a card of encouragement.

Also at 7:45 a.m., there will be a Rosary / Divine Mercy take place at the Capitol 1st floor rotunda, and the St. Peter Church Exhibit Hall will open at 216 Broadway Street.  There will be vendor booths as well as light refreshments available for a nominal fee.

The pre-march rally with speakers will begin at 9:30 a.m. in front of St. Peter Exhibit Hall. The keynote speaker this year is Kristan Hawkins. Hawkins is a life affirming, grassroots activist, author, and speaker. She graduated from Bethany College in 2005 and launched Students for Life of America in 2006. She is one of the many voices of the pro-life generation.

The march to the Capitol is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Church. It will proceed north — past the Governor’s Mansion — to Madison Street, then onto High Street toward the Capitol. The route is approximately three-quarters of a mile.

The rally inside the Capitol Rotunda on the first floor is set to begin at 10:30 a.m.

Lunch is scheduled to follow at noon at the Exhibit Hall. Chili and hot dogs will be prepared by the Knights of Columbus for a nominal fee to help cover event expenses.

At 3 p.m., a Mass for Life will be at St. Peter Church.

The website lists the municipal garage at 200 Madison St. as a parking site for the march.
