After a four-year hiatus, the Garden Club of Shawnee will host its popular Garden Sampler Tour on June 10, 2023
The tour features five unique Shawnee neighborhood gardens exhibiting creative ideas for extended outdoor family living areas, child-friendly play areas in whimsical themes and gardens specializing in organic gardening. The club says visitors will see everything f rom flowers to veggies and gain insight into planting combos and techniques. They’ll also have access to the woodlands, water gardens and streams.
The tour runs 9am to 5pm, rain or shine. Tickets are $15 each and are available at gardenclubofshawnee.com, and various gardening outlets. You can also find the tickets at EventBrite.com.
This year, organizers have added a raffle for prizes donated by local merchants. As a non-profit club, proceeds from the raffle help fund the club’s grant program which supports gardening projects for non-profit organizations such as local schools, churches, and individual scholarships. Raffle tickets will be sold at each garden the day of the tour for $2 each or triple your chances at 3 tickets for $5. Cash only.
Even if you can’t make the tour, the Garden Club of Shawnee welcomes all visitors and loves to sign up new members. Founded in 1990, the club consists of gardeners of various levels of talent and abilities and is committed to helping membmers improve their individual gardens and encourage participation in beautifying area community gardens. Programs presented at monthly meetings provide information on a variety of garden topics, as well as the care and feeding of backyard wildlife.
