Two bodies found behind local church

Kansas City’s homicide rate could add two more victims to the growing list after police discovered bodies behind a local church.

The Kansas City Police Department  stated officers responded to the call around 5:41 a.m. Tuesday morning.

When they arrived, officers confirmed that two bodies were in wooded area behind Sheffield Family Life Center at 9th and Winner in Kansas City’s east side. The church ethnically diverse congregation is one of the most well-respected in Kansas City and is known for serving at-risk populations including the homeless.

Authorities have not released any information regarding the sex or race of the two individuals or how they died. Police are investigating it as a multiple homicide.

Kansas City has the fifth highest homicide rate in the nation. If found to be homicide, the discovery will be Kansas Citys 86th and 87th homicides for the year.
