Missouri’s annual pro-life action day will take place Wednesday, March 8 at the state capitol in Jefferson City. This year’s theme is “Keep Missouri Pro-Life.”
Sponsored by Missouri Right to Life with support from numerous organizations, the event offers the public an opportunity to hear from speakers, visit pro-life booths, talk with legislators and pray.
Adoptive mom and former Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler, who represented Missouri’s 4th Congressional District until January, will talk about the importance of adoption.
In an exclusive 2021 interview with Metro Voice, Hartzler, who lives in Harrisonville, Mo., spoke about the pro-life movement and adoption. “I’m also encouraged by the strength of the pro-life movement from our younger generations, They see life for what it is, and a gift protected as a human right.”
One goal of the Capitol event is to bring in those young generations. While the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in June 2022 that Roe v Wade was unconstitutional, pro-life leaders say the movement is far from over.
“With the authority to regulate abortion returned to the people and their elected representatives, it is now more important than ever for people to advocate to protect the right to life at the state level,” says Susan Kelin, Executive Director of Missouri Right to Life.
“It is vital that we take action to protect women and their unborn babies.”
Wednesday’s events begin at 10 am with registration followed by a Noon rally where Hartzler will speak.’
