Brandon Lake Concert Baptisms Draw Hundreds
“My wife inspired me to do the baptisms” he says

Hundreds of people were baptized during two recent Brandon Lake concerts in his hometown of Charleston, S.C.
The baptisms came as Lake wrapped up his “King of Hearts” tour with two hometown concerts at Credit One Stadium. Cattle troughs were set up across the stadium’s tennis courts so people could be baptized after the shows.
“My wife inspired me to do the baptisms,” he said. “That was her dream, and her vision. Literally, she said, ‘babe, I think we’re supposed to. I just got this vision of us baptizing hundreds of people’ something that we couldn’t do across the country. We haven’t figured it out yet. Maybe we’ll get there. but we knew we could do it in the hometown.”
Lake later posted about the response on social media.
“Thousands gave their lives to Jesus last night, and hundreds immediately responded through baptism,” he said. “What a dream, and what a gift. THIS IS WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT!”
Between 500 and 600 people were baptized during two concerts. It’s been a banner year for Lake, who has built on his hit collaboration with Jelly Roll by also teaming up for collaborations with a string of artists, including Nick Jonas, Lainey Wilson and Bailey Zimmerman.
Lake also used the Charleston concerts to debut “The Author,” his collaboration with Nick Jonas. The song, released May 1, was co-written by Lake, Jonas, Benjamin William Hastings, Trannie Anderson and Micah Nichols.
I always learn something from them,” he said. “I think we’re better together, and I love when people bring their stories together and you begin to see perspective, a perspective that maybe you didn’t see. For example, the Nick Jonas song that I just recently put out, that was something that he brought and I never really thought about it in that kind of context.”
This collaboration, “The Author,” centers on surrendering control and trusting the one who is writing the story. “Who am I to question if that’s his plan?” Lake said. “He’s got a better one right here.”
The collaboration with Jonas followed other country and Christian music crossovers. Lake and Lainey Wilson released “The Jesus I Know Now” in April. His recent collaborations also have included Cody Johnson on “When A Cowboy Prays.”
Meanwhile, Lake said he rarely struggles with staying humble, thanks to the people who know him best.
“When I come home, I don’t get special treatment,” he said. “I have friends that have known me since I was 15, and they keep me humble. All of it is a gift from God, and he could take it like that, and so I just want to be a great steward of what he’s given me.”
