Campus Crusade for Christ International (Cru) has named David Robbins as its fourth president, marking a significant leadership transition for one of the world’s largest evangelism and discipleship ministries. Robbins, 46, brings more than two decades of experience with the organization, most recently serving as CEO of FamilyLife, a ministry dedicated to strengthening families.
With a rich history dating back to 1951, when Bill and Vonette Bright founded the ministry at UCLA, Cru has grown into a global organization serving in 190 countries. Robbins succeeds Steve Sellers, who will transition to a new role within the ministry this July.
“I’ve spent nearly five decades dedicated to this ministry, and I believe the best years of our ministry are still ahead,” Sellers said. His confidence in Robbins is echoed by the organization’s long-standing commitment to its mission of evangelism and discipleship.
Prior to his role as FamilyLife’s CEO, Robbins has served Cru in various capacities, including launching a ministry to 20-somethings in New York City, leading a student ministry team in Italy, and serving as a regional director for U.S. campus ministries in the Southeast. He joined Cru staff in 2000, bringing a wealth of experience in ministry leadership.
Robbins is committed to upholding the ministry’s calling to help fulfill the Great Commission by winning, building, and sending in the power of the Holy Spirit. “I am deeply humbled to get to serve the Lord in this new role alongside faithful and faith-filled staff, volunteers and partners around the world,” he said. “Together, we will continue to trust God to pursue our mission so that people in every tongue, tribe and nation can come to know and follow Jesus.”
A graduate of the University of Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Robbins will be officially commissioned on July 18, 2024. He and his wife, Meg, will continue to reside in Orlando with their four children, maintaining their deep roots in the ministry community.
