Europe Evangelism Campaign Makes Final Push for One Million

The Million Month, a Europe-wide street evangelism campaign organized by Awakening Europe, entered its final days Tuesday with volunteers seeking to share the gospel face to face with one million people before the outreach ends Friday.

Campaign organizers list 37 participating cities across 16 countries, from London, Paris and Berlin to smaller centers such as Pärnu, Estonia, and Thun, Switzerland. Each city was expected to conduct at least 10 consecutive days of outreach during the July 3-31 campaign.

The undertaking comes as Europe’s Christian population continues to shrink. As violence against Christians continues to grow, as reported by Metro Voice, Pew Research Center estimates that Christians made up 67% of Europe’s population in 2020, down from 74% a decade earlier. The number of Christians fell 9%, while the religiously unaffiliated population grew 37%.

Here’s how Millionth Month works: Volunteers gather at designated locations, then head into streets in groups of two or three. Participants use the City Impact app to log gospel conversations and decisions to follow Christ, and to connect interested people with local churches. The figures are submitted by participants. Awakening Europe’s public campaign page did not display a running total Tuesday, making it impossible to independently determine how close the effort was to its one million goal.

“When the Gospel is preached, Jesus shows up, and everything changes,” organizers said on the campaign website. They cite Romans 10:14, which asks how people can believe if they have not heard and how they can hear without someone preaching.

The campaign also offers evangelism training and “Glory Nights,” where volunteers gather for worship and testimonies. A London partner promoted two weeks of inner-city outreach this month, providing local confirmation of the campaign’s activity.

Awakening Europe said an earlier Million Month brought the gospel to more than 73,000 people and produced 7,320 recorded decisions for Christ. Those totals are ministry-reported figures and have not been independently audited.
