Exorcist Believes UFOs Demonic

A Catholic priest known for his work in deliverance ministry is warning Christians not to treat UFOs and other unexplained phenomena as harmless curiosities, saying some may carry a darker spiritual danger.

Msgr. Stephen J. Rossetti, a chief exorcist for the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, said in a recent interview that he believes many sightings commonly labeled UFOs could be demonic manifestations rather than visitors from another world. His comments come as federal officials and scientists continue to study what the government now calls unidentified anomalous phenomena, or UAPs.

“There’s a danger here,” Rossetti said in a video posted to YouTube on May 29. “Demons like to hide. They don’t want us to know they’re around.”

Rossetti said his view is not a binding teaching of the Catholic Church, but a warning drawn from years of ministry to people seeking help for what they believe is demonic affliction. He pointed to Ephesians 6:12, where the Apostle Paul writes that believers struggle not merely against flesh and blood but against “spiritual forces of evil.”

For Rossetti, the issue is not whether a light in the sky turns out to be a drone, aircraft, balloon or weather event. It is what Christians do with the fascination. He warned that curiosity about “friendly ghosts,” aliens and supernatural signs can pull people toward spiritual confusion.

Government investigators have approached the matter from another direction. NASA’s UAP study found no evidence that unexplained sightings are extraterrestrial, while also saying poor or limited data often prevents firm conclusions. A Pentagon report reviewing hundreds of cases also found no evidence of alien activity, though some incidents remain unresolved because investigators lacked enough information.

Rossetti urged Christians to resist both fear and obsession.

“Remember, our fight is against principalities and powers, evil spirits, Satan and his minions,” he said. “But in the end, we trust in God.”

He added: “Trust in Jesus. We have a great joy in the Lord, and our eyes are fixed on heaven.”
