Ice cream socials will celebrate Missouri’s birthday on Aug. 10

As Missouri’s 20oth birthday approaches on August 10, communities across the state are hosting simultaneous ice cream socials.

Below is a list of Kansas City-area events but there’s still time to plan your own.

ice creamNothing brings people together like ice cream, and an ice cream social is a most appropriate way to celebrate Missouri, since the ice cream cone is the official state dessert!

Participation by your community can take various forms – from partnerships with ice cream shops large and small to parking lot meet-ups organized by local organizations, from specially created flavors for the day to old favorites made in hand-crank ice cream machines.
