Iran Agrees to Ceasefire With Israel

Brokered by the Trump administration, it will go into effect within 24 hours

A ceasefire between Israel was announced Monday evening, ending 12 days of intense conflict, with Iran yielding after relentless Israeli airstrikes and U.S. strikes obliterating its nuclear facilities.

President Donald Trump announced the truce, claiming, “Iran will start the ceasefire and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the ceasefire and, upon the 24th Hour, an official end to the 12-Day War”. He hailed the deal on Truth Social, calling it the end of a war that “could have destroyed the Middle East” CBS News.

Israel’s air force pummeled Iranian military and nuclear sites, missile production facilities, the headquarters of the Revolutionary Guard and offices of the “morality police”  responsible for arresting Iranian women who do not cover their hair in public.

The U.S. joined Saturday, deploying B-2 bombers to devastate Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan facilities. Fox News reported, “Iran’s nuclear ambitions were wiped out,” citing U.S. officials. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in Moscow, signaled no further escalation, saying, the country now seeks peace, according to the Washington Post.

The ceasefire follows Iran’s missile barrage on a U.S. base in Qatar. Trump earlier thanked Iran for alerting the US to the attack, which observers say was symbolic in an effort for the Islamic regime to save face.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prayed at the Western Wall, declaring, “The people of Israel live” reported Reuters.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said the actions of the Trump administration were about stopping a nuclear weapon, not toppling Tehran. But, as social media images emerge from Iran, protests against the Ayatollah and Iran’s secret police have been taking place in recent days.
