Saquon Barkley’s Faith Journey Inspires Philadelphia Eagles Fans

Kansas City fans probably saw more than they wanted of running back Saquon Barkley when his Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Chiefs in the Super Bowl in February. Barkley rushed for 2,006 yards in 2024, becoming the first player in NFL history to gain more than 2,000 yards and win a Super Bowl in the same season.
However, fans can admire his recent decision to make God a priority over sports. “I just became a Christian not too long ago,” Barkley said, according to MSN. “I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the best year I had in my career, I found my faith. It gives me some clarity in life.”
At Super Bowl LIX, he talked about reading the Bible.
“I’m not going to sit here and tell you that I know the Bible, like, in and out,” Barkley said. “It’s something I’m learning, I’m challenging myself to get better at with my family and my friends. I’m just growing, and I think that’s the beautiful thing about it, and I think that’s what religion and faith is, is having a relationship with God and understanding who Jesus is, and that’s what I’ve been trying to do this year. I’m going to continue to try to get better at it.”.
Congratulations are pouring in for Barkley for being so open and honest. “Praise the Lord Jesus Christ!,” one fan wrote. May he ultimately be glorified in Saquon’s life… And now I guess I’ll have to be a little bit of an Eagles fan.”
“Amen! Love seeing these athletes use their platforms to profess their faith in Jesus! Absolutely incredible,” another fan added.

Barkley will be on the cover of this year’s edition of the popular “Madden” video game. He also was a featured speaker at “Life Surge: Champions of Faith,” a religious financial seminar at Philadelphia’s 21,000-seat Wells Fargo Center.
