When you’re feeling worn out, turn to this Bible passage

There’s no doubt about it, life can be exhausting. Whether we’re dealing with work, kids, financial pressure, or doing our best to stick to our Lenten fasting, it’s not a surprise if some days we feel just plain worn out.

While it is good to rely on our loved ones, we also need the embrace of God, and a reminder that His love for us will get us through the most trying of days. Thankfully, scattered throughout the Bible are heartening passages that remind us of that.

The Psalms (46:2) tell us how “God is our refuge and our strength, an ever-present help in distress” (46:2) — a great piece of Scripture to recite at the beginning of each day — and Galatians (6:9) reminds us that even if living our best Christian life makes us weary, it will be so worth it in the end: “Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up.”

Yet, perhaps there is nothing more beautiful and uplifting than this passage from Isaiah (40: 28-31):

“Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is God from of old,
creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary,
and his knowledge is beyond scrutiny.
He gives power to the faint,
abundant strength to the weak.
Though young men faint and grow weary,
and youths stagger and fall,
They that hope in the LORD will renew their strength,
they will soar on eagles’ wings;
They will run and not grow weary,
walk and not grow faint.”

So the next time you are exhausted, open up your Bible and contemplate these words from Isaiah. The word of God is a balm to the weary and a resource you should never forget to turn to with everyday needs and problems.
