Voyager 1 speaks from interstellar space
NASA’s Voyager 1, the most distant spacecraft from Earth, is speaking again as it sends science data. It hit a glitch last November and stopped, but has received and transmitted new information, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory says. Launched in 1977, Voyager 1 is 15 billion miles from Earth and is now flying through interstellar space, or the space between stars. Before reaching this region, the spacecraft discovered a thin ring around Jupiter and several of Saturn’s moons. Its instruments are designed to collect information about plasma waves, magnetic fields and particles. It now takes over 22 hours for a radio signal to reach Humanity’s first interstellar spacecraft.
Hollywood dropping Prince Harry and Meghan
Gwyneth Paltrow appears to be the latest celebrity to drop the Sussexes– Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Paltrow joins notable A-listers who are said to have now “dropped” the Sussexes in recent months, from George and Amal Clooney, the Beckhams, Oprah, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun “They have realized that William and Kate are the true superstars and future of the monarchy, and a thousand-year-old institution isn’t going to disappear any time soon. Yes, the royals have their ups and downs, but they survive by adapting and because the public respects the institution, although not always the individuals.”
Newborn baby found in trash bin
Texas authorities continue to look for a man who dumped a naked newborn in a trash dumpster. Video caught the incident, including a Good Samaritan couple who later spotted the baby and rescued the girl from the 95 degree heat. The baby “still had fresh placenta … so it was freshly born” that morning, Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Juan Garcia said from the scene. The couple who found her were shaken. “I noticed two little feet moving and then my husband was right behind me with the dogs and I yelled to my husband and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, a baby, a baby,’” Daniela Fedele told KHOU. “I was shocked, I was mad, I was upset,” she said of finding the baby girl in the trash. “You can drop it off at a fire station, a police station, a hospital, I don’t know… but don’t leave the baby.” The baby girl was taken to a local hospital by police where she is in good condition, the New York Post reports.
IDF says it has destroyed half of Hamas in Raffah
The IDF says it has defeated half of Hamas’s battalions in Rafah, including killing at least 550 terrorists, as well as destroying around 200 tunnel shafts, and destroyed the terror group’s last major rocket inventory. Further, according to the Jerusalem Post, the IDF asserts within a couple weeks it would likely be in control of all of Rafah. Final battles with the remaining two Hamas battalions in parts of Tel al-Sultan and the eastern part of Shabura are already underway. To date, the IDF has identified 25 large tunnels which, at the very least, go up to the border with Egypt. Israel plans to work with Egypt on preventing future tunnel construction. The cross-border smuggling tunnels have been key to Hamas’s armament capabilities, including receiving weapons from Iran.
