Special showing of Oct. 7 documentary Sunday night

The haunting interview-based documentary Screams Before Silence about the Oct. 7 Hamas attack will be shown Sunday evening, Oct. 6 in Overland Park.

Produced by Sheryl Sandberg, former CEO of Facebook, it is one of several films documenting the attack on Israeli communities by Hamas.

The free showing will be held at Or HaOlam Messianic Synagogue, 9898 W 95th St, Overland Park, Kan.

According to the film’s website, the film hits back at human-rights groups who continue to deny the atrocities carried out by Palestinians that day against children and women. “Despite the indisputable evidence, these atrocities have received little scrutiny from human rights groups and international organizations. Many leading figures in politics, academia, and media have attempted to minimize or even deny that they occurred,” it states.

The 60-minute film is narrated by Sandberg as she interviews multiple eyewitnesses, released hostages, first responders, medical and forensic experts, and survivors of the Hamas massacres.

The film is not appropriate for children.

The film’s showing will be part of the congregation’s commemorateive service for the Oct. 7 massacre. It will feature photos of the hostages.
