Hundreds Gather at Missouri Capitol for Statewide School Choice Rally

Hundreds of students, parents, and educators from across Missouri filled the State Capitol on Wednesday, for the Missouri School Choice Rally—a major event celebrating the impact and growth of educational options in the state. Organized by the Children’s Education Alliance of Missouri (CEAM) in collaboration with the National School Choice Awareness Foundation, the rally ran from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., bringing together families eager to meet with lawmakers and share what school choice means to them.
The event featured student and parent speakers, student performances, and plenty of opportunities for attendees to connect with legislators. The goal: to put a spotlight on Missouri’s expanding menu of K–12 options—including public, public charter, magnet, private, online, home, and non-traditional learning environments—and the opportunities they provide for families. Organizers described the rally as both a learning experience for students and a chance for lawmakers to hear directly from those impacted by school choice policies.
Missouri’s school choice landscape has seen significant growth in recent years. The state’s scholarship program already exceeds previous years’ awards, opening new doors for students seeking alternative educational environments. Missouri now ranks 17th in the nation for overall education freedom, according to The Heritage Foundation, reflecting the state’s momentum and national standing in supporting parental choice.
The rally capped a week of statewide activities during National School Choice Week, which Governor Mike Parson officially proclaimed for the third consecutive year. As the legislative session continues, advocates are urging lawmakers to continue expanding educational opportunities and resources for families across Missouri.
