Actor Kirk Cameron criticizes glorification of gay sex during Pride Month

LGBTQ pride month is in full swing if you look at the television ads and your news feed. Actor Kirk Cameron has had enough.

This year, American consumers are speaking their minds by withholding their spending power from retailers like Target, Kohl’s, Walmart and more. The movement is working with some companies having been devalued over $10 billion in just two weeks. While the media refers to the boycotts as “anti-LGBT,” those participating in them say they’re just tired of having it shoved down their throats.

Cameron, author of the new book “Pride Comes Before the Fall,” slammed the idea of a whole month glorifying “who people like to have sex with” in an interview with “The Daily Wire.”

“I think that at the end of the day, there are those who want to take my book about humility and somehow twist it into a narrative that it’s an anti-gay book,” he said. “Which couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s simply a pro-humility book. Everybody needs to learn the blessing of being humble and thinking of others first. Feeding the ‘me monster,’ self-satisfaction, self-exaltation always leads to misery.”

The timing is ideal, he said.

“Number one, it’s just in time for kids getting out of school in June,” Cameron said. “What I see happening culturally with Bud Light and Target and North Face and other companies who are leaning into this ESG woke agenda is a strategy to distract everybody with cries for empathy, inclusion and diversity. And then claim that it’s all just harmless human rights.”

He said the good news is that “millions of Americans aren’t buying it,” which is a big part of the reason why companies such as Bud Light and Target are hurting.

“I think that it’s important that we vote with our dollars and we support companies and the people that support America and America values,” Cameron said. “But at the end of the day, we need to turn our hearts to God, because this problem is bigger than just shopping for shoes and bathing suits at another store.”

Pride Comes Before the Fall” was released on June 1, with the next book in the series about the seven deadly sins scheduled to be out by Christmas. Cameron said he will continue his library readings nationwide. He also promised to “create meaningful opportunities” throughout the month of June for those who “reject the glorification of pride” and urged fans to see his social media for more information.

The consumer backlash seems to be working. Major brands who changed their logos for the entire month of June 2022 or are not posting anything at all.
