Actress Patricia Heaton: standing strong for pro-life cause in Hollywood

Heaton, a Christian, is well-known for her roles in “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “The Middle.”

“I don’t understand why pro-life people want to know if they are ‘welcome’ to join the democrat party,” Heaton wrote on Twitter. “Why would any civilized person want to support a barbaric platform that champions abortion for any reason through all nine months funded by taxpayers?”

Heaton comments echo many who say the Democrat Party has become extreme in its abortion stance and radically out of touch with voters. Two 2020 Democrat presidential candidates, Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg, refused to welcome pro-life Democrats into the party. President Joe Biden has reversed all Trump-era pro-life policies and resumed funding of overseas abortions.

Increasingly, the Democratic Party has aligned itself with the abortion industry rather than voters even as polls show Americans are more pro-life than pro-abortion.

All of the top Democratic presidential candidates in 2020 supported abortions without restriction through all nine months of pregnancy and want to force taxpayers to pay for them. The party platform boasts a radical pro-abortion agenda as well. In 2012, Democrat leaders removed the word “rare” from their abortion platform, and, in 2016, added language calling for taxpayer-funded abortions.

But that is not where most voters stand on the abortion issue. Two polls from Marist and Gallup show strong public opposition to abortion on demand.

According to Marist, more than six in 10 Americans (62%) say that if the Supreme Court revisits Roe v. Wade it should allow states to determine restrictions (46%) or make abortion illegal (16%). Only 33% of Americans say Roe v. Wade should be interpreted to allow for legal abortion any time without restriction.

Gallup found that 58% of Americans are not satisfied with current abortion laws, and more want stricter laws that limit or ban abortions.
