Carrie Underwood grateful to God as America celebrates 250 years

Country music star Carrie Underwood expressed her love for America as it celebrates its 250th birthday. She recently shared on social media a video showing hundreds of American flags lining a rural Tennessee property. “I can’t believe I get to live here,” Underwood wrote. “Thank you, Lord.”

The post is the latest example of Underwood publicly speaking about her Christian faith, something she consistently has done throughout her career. Earlier this year, she told “The Christian Post” that success in the entertainment industry doesn’t require abandoning her convictions.

“You don’t have to sell your soul to make it in the entertainment industry,” she said. “You are going to have to stand strong in your faith and remember who got you here, because it wasn’t you.”

Underwood made the comments while reflecting on the second annual “Songs of Faith” episode of American Idol,” which featured contestants performing Christian and faith-inspired music.

“I love that we were able to just be joyful and kind of have some moments of just worship in front of the world,” she said. “I respect ABC and ‘American Idol’ so much for being bold in this theme, because it’s not easy. I feel like in the world of entertainment in general, it’s not easy.”

In a 2019 interview with “People” magazine, Underwood said some of her most meaningful moments came when she surrendered control to God. “The best moments in my life are when I say, ‘Hey, I can’t control everything, and that’s OK,’ God is in control,” she said.

The Grammy Award-winning singer also reflected on the blessings in her life and the importance of gratitude.

“I’ve always wanted to be a good daughter to my parents but also to God and not complain, because we are beyond blessed,” she said. “I get to do what I love. I have an incredible family. I have [my husband] Mike, I have Isaiah and I have great parents. I have all of these amazing people around me, and I don’t want to complain, ever.”
