As I reflect on the anniversary of 9/11, many thoughts and feelings come to mind as if it was just yesterday.
Thinking about all of the death, destruction, pain and suffering on that horrific day, I also think about the endless stories of bravery, leadership and kindness of people helping people in response to these attacks. Days of sorrow and reflections turned into days of unity and patriotism for our country. I remember the news reports of how church attendance increased in our country and people turned to God with their feelings of fear, despair and hopelessness.
READ: Our readers share their 9/11 memories
Yes, our world is full of evil. Yes, Satan may have seemed to have won the battle of good versus evil on September 11, 2001. The Good News is that we know our God is greater than Satan even when Satan appears to be winning the battle. Our faith teaches us that one day God will destroy Satan once and for all! Our faith teaches us that our God is always in control and that He reigns above all forever and ever!
This Good News still applies to us today. Our God is full of truth and grace. Our God is full of love and justice. Our God provides salvation through his Son, Jesus. Our God is great! God is greater than Satan! God is greater than evil! God is greater than hate! God is greater than our pain and suffering! God is greater than our sin and weaknesses! God is greater than our hurts and insecurities! God provides hope and healing! God provides forgiveness and compassion! God provides unfailing love and faithfulness! God provides protection and refuge! God provides help and security! God provides mercy and kindness! God provides strength and endurance!
May we turn to God in good times as well as bad times! May we turn to God in times of need and celebration! May we turn to God for help and guidance! May we turn to God each and every day to live our lives for Him! May we turn to God to follow Him and to serve Him! May we turn to God to honor and glorify Him! May we turn to God for his joy and gladness! May we turn to God to praise Him for his goodness and faithfulness!
Psalm 118:1 states, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.”
Yes, our God is great!
