Keith Van Sickle is known in the Topeka/Lawrence/Kansas City area as Keith the Critic, local movie reviewer.
He is also the force behind Slash ‘n Bash Horror/Sci-Fi Film Festival every year in Topeka and/or Lawrence, which is now in its 15th year. Many of the stars and directors of these films are on hand for the festival to sign autographs and interact with fans. The event also highlights short films created by up and coming local stars and directors.
The nationally syndicated program Drive-In Movie Maniacs, which has a cult-like following and airs on several cable networks and local stations, is usually a part of Slash & Bash as well. Host Terrible Tim and other stars from the show have appeared at the event in the past.
This year’s event will be held at Liberty Hall in Lawrence on August 15 – 17.
Keith the Critic also presents movie events at the Historic Jayhawk Theatre in Topeka, as well as other events at The Breakroom in downtown Topeka.
