Love KC, Unite KC announce merger to better serve Kansas City community

Two non-profit organizations committed to serving the people of Kansas City are joining forces. Love KC and Unite KC are merging under the United KC banner.

“We are eager for the opportunity to continue the heart of Love KC under the umbrella of Unite KC,” said Gary Kendall, executive director of Love KC. “We see this as a win for both organizations and look forward to seeing how the merger will benefit the KC community.”

Ray Jarrett, executive director of Unite KC, agreed. “Love KC has always been a great partner,” he said. “We are excited to take this next step in working together as one organization for greater impact in our beloved city.”

After much prayer and discussion, both organizations determined that combining their efforts and resources can be more effective in bringing human flourishing to Kansas City. Both organizations sincerely hope that this merger of personnel and resources sets a strong example of unity and connectedness in the city.

Unite KC will continue in its mission to take action that prompts heart transformation, builds community and ultimately leads to racial healing, while adding Love KC and its mission. Love KC invites individuals to adopt their neighborhoods and join Jesus where he already is at work. More than 4,500 individuals have adopted their neighborhood to live on missions where they live, learn, work and play.

The merger process began on June 1 and will be completed before the end of the year. A townhall-style meeting will be held in the fall to provide a shared vision and answer questions. The organization plans to celebrate the merger, and it welcomes the continued support of volunteers, prayer partners, and donors.

“We are ready to increase our impact in the city, the church, the community and beyond,” the newly merged organization said. “Please continue and even increase your support as we put the new networks together. The not-for-profits anticipate no cessation of missional objectives or events in either organization as we assimilate people and resources under one roof. These are exciting times, and both organizations’ leadership is confident of God’s leading and providence.”

Unite KC will hold its 4th annual Walk for Unity, Saturday, June 8 at the corner of Troost and Truman Rd. in Kansas City. Oranizers say the event is meant to draw Christian communities of different colors and backgrounds together and serve healing balm for Kansas City.
