Summit Christian Academy celebrates dedication of new fieldhouse

Summit Christian Academy in Lee’s Summit recently dedicated its new 43,000-square-foot fieldhouse and activity center. The facility includes a gymnasium that seats 1,200; locker rooms; strength and conditioning room; multipurpose room; concession stand; restrooms and athletic offices

“We are excited about the building but most excited about what will be built inside the building,” Head of School Chris Hahn said. “Our mission and ministry platform has been expanded. This is a great place to see our children compete and perform. What a blessing to gather as the entire community of SCA in worship, prayer and celebration.”

The ceremony included a performance by the high school concert chorale; a message by Christian Newsome, pastor of Journey Church International; dedication prayer and ribbon cutting. Current and former students, faculty, parents and donors attended the event.

Summit Christian Academy is an independent, non-denominational Christian school serving 1,200 preschool through 12th-grade students from more than 195 area churches with a college preparatory Christian education.

“For us to gather as a community and for us to worship, for us to hold assemblies, for our kids to sing and perform and to compete and to train, it just extends the mission beyond the classroom,” Hahn said. ”What we do outside the classroom to connect kids to our community, to each other, to develop their gifts as we inspire them to achieve their God-given potential, that’s who we are and what we do.”
