Christian Radio Network Spreads Hope Amid Ukraine War
One of the most important things Christians need during the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia is not material goods but hope. A Christian radio network that reaches out to people in both nations with the gospel is serving as a peacemaker between Christians in each country, while reaching the Slavic world via satellite and Internet radio.
Their team continues to overcome several challenges to remain on the air, including ongoing bomb attacks, power outages and no heating. New Life Radio International, whose radio station broadcasts from Odessa in Ukraine, miraculously has managed to continue broadcasting throughout the war, providing spiritual encouragement even as the conflict disrupts daily life.

“Our challenge is to stay on air within a city that’s constantly bombed,” said Daniel Johnson, president of the network. “Our facility has been hit. We’re just hoping that the electricity stays on so we can continue our satellite and internet radio broadcasts. To have a station to be able to work within a wartime environment, knowing that our mission is to get the gospel to two nations that desperately need to hear it, that’s pretty much what we’re dealing with right now.”
New Life Radio is seeking to move out of its rented 195-year-old building and purchase new offices to ensure its ability to continue broadcasting long into the future. Johnson recently shared his vision for the region at a meeting of the organization’s board of directors.

“New Life Radio, the mission we have supported for 24 years, is entering a new era in its outreach to the Russian and Ukrainian-speaking peoples of the world,” he said. “While working in the midst of a terrible war between these two nations, all of us praise our creator for his provision and protection of our radio mission that continues to operate from Odessa, Ukraine.
“In expectation of new opportunities with the soon coming of peace, it is time for us as an organization to do everything in our power to position ourselves and our Odessa team with the resources and means to continue gospel broadcasting long into the future. Hence, the steps we now take to reorganize, invest and strategize are warranted, and we proceed in total subjection to the will and guidance of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom we serve, in these actions.”
