Free Christian K-12 education expo helps parents decide

Do you have questions about private education? Wondering what options are available to you or someone you know? Metro Voice will host its 21st Annual Midwest Christian K-12 Education Expo Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Here you’l find the answers you need and talk with teachers about Christian schooling.

The free event has been attended by tens of thousands of people over the last two decades as families seek information on everything from K-12 options including private and homeschooling, plus high school students and their parents looking at Christian universities.

The Expo will again take place at:

Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Rd, in south Kansas City and will feature the area’s best K-12 private Christian schools, homeschooling resources and dozens of colleges from 17 states.  School administrators and teachers will be on hand to answer your questions and provide information on their programs.

In addition, Metro Voice will publish the 28th Annual Christian Education Guide and Directory which will deliver to 700 area churches, bookstores, libraries and be given out free at the Expo.

One of the most popular aspects of the Expo are the free “mini-seminars” during the day.  All are only 45 minutes long and they’re free! The times allow parents and students to visit with the many schools and pick up materials.

Popular mini-seminars include:

10:15 a.m. Are You Ready for the ACT?  Most high school students are aware of the ACT test; many students are uncertain of how to study for it.  This seminar will present the expectations and structure of the ACT. Early preparation will be stressed as an effective strategy to increase student success while diminishing anxiety.

11:15 a.m.  Educating Our Children as Christian Parents.  Parents have a great role and responsibility in raising their children and preparing them for the adulthood. The choice of education for our children is important. There are good and bad in each option available.  The speakers will also share how different options may be good in different seasons of the child’s academic career kindergarten through college.

12:15 p.m.  Finding the Most Financial Aid and FAFSA.  The college financial aid track is led by the financial aid V.P. of Mid-America Nazarene University.  It assists both parents and students in navigating the maze of questions and deadlines they’re confronted with each year.
