Recent legislative efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, a longtime objective of the prolife movement, have gained new momentum under the current Congress and administration.
“It is an outrage the federal government gives nearly $700 million a year to Planned Parenthood, which is the largest abortion provider in the world and was founded by a racist and eugenicist,” said the Rev. Patrick Mahoney, chief strategy officer for Stanton Public Policy Center. “According to recent financial reports, Planned Parenthood reported nearly $2.1 billion in income and over $2.5 billion in net assets. Planned Parenthood’s excess of total revenue over total expenses is $178.6 million.”
Stanton works on issues of human rights and justice that empower and inspire women. It is affiliated with Stanton Healthcare.
“Stanton Healthcare stands with women by offering exceptional life-affirming medical care and compassionate support, empowering them to thrive in every season of life,” said Brandi Swindell, founder and CEO of Stanton Healthcare and Stanton Public Policy Center. “It is unacceptable that taxpayer dollars fund an organization like Planned Parenthood, which profits from ending lives rather than offering holistic, empowering health care for women.
“Studies show that as many as 60 percent of women who have abortions feel pressured to do so, with many experiencing coerced or even forced abortions. Fifty years of unfettered access to abortion through groups like Planned Parenthood have not solved the challenges women face or reduced societal problems. Funding Planned Parenthood is literally a dead end, and it needs to stop.”
According to recent reports, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Elon Musk, and Vivek Ramaswamy of the Department of Government Efficiency have pledged to work toward defunding Planned Parenthood.
“The pro-life movement looks forward to working with the Trump administration, Congress and DOGE to ensure they defund and replace Planned Parenthood,” Swindell said.
