Abortion – The regret is real

Statistics fly around us all the time. Unemployment rates, inflation, divorce, social media use, foster care, education…and the list goes on. These numbers are published daily in a variety of media outlets. One statistic that we rarely see published is that on abortion. Granted in the last three months the topic of abortion has been thrust to the forefront, but unsurprisingly, we are already seeing, in real time, a decline in its discussion.

Statistics tell us that 1 in 4 women will have an abortion by the time she is 45. Within the church community, the statistics are 1 in 6. Next time you are at your grocery store, favorite restaurant or faith community, look around. There are many walking-wounded around you each and every day.

Post Abortion Stress Syndrom or PASS is a hotly debated topic in our society. Do women suffer adversely to their abortions? Do they have physical, mental, or emotional ramifications after making the decision? A study done by Diana Greene Foster called the Turnaway Study claims that 3 out of 4 women do not regret their abortions, and if they do express regret, they have mental health challenges before their abortion decisions. Indicating that their regret is linked to their mental health struggles and not their abortion decision. For the hundereds of women we’ve served, this has not been our experience.

If Not For Grace Ministries walks alongside those who experience any form of abortion and for those who feel regret and grief. We seek to offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space so women and men, alike, can heal from the trauma of their past abortions. Whether two days ago or 45 years ago, we have seen the transforming power of God’s love and forgiveness heal hearts and lives. We do this through weekly Abortion Recovery Groups, Reconciliation Weekends, and our Next Steps program. Our mission is to provide opportunities for restoration to those impacted by abortion, walking with them as God restores their relationship with Himself, others, and their children. We believe in the restorative power of forgiveness in the lives of women, men, and families impacted by abortion.

Statistically, you know someone who has had an abortion. Maybe it’s YOU. We want you to know that there are soft, compassionate places to walk through healing. We know that abortion decisions are complex and that a one-size-fits-all approach will not bring true restoration. If you or someone you know is struggling after an abortion please reach out today. We are here when you are ready.
