Has Cher had an awakening on illegals? “State can’t take care of it’s own…how can it take care of more?”

Recent comments by legendary singer Cher have many wondering if she has had an awakening of some sort.

Cher took to Twitter on Sunday to make this point:

“I Understand Helping struggling Immigrants, but MY CITY (Los Angeles) ISNT TAKING CARE OF ITS OWN.WHAT ABOUT THE 50,000+Citizens WHO LIVE ON THE STREETS.PPL WHO LIVE BELOW POVERTY LINE, & HUNGRY? If My State Can’t Take Care of Its Own (Many Are VETS) How Can it Take Care Of More”

Her statement came after news that the Trump administration is considering releasing illegal immigrants into sanctuary cities, because detention centers are full. Her estimate of the number of homeless in LA is consistent with figures released recently by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.

Cher’s current post appeared to be quite different from her stance in September 2017, when she posted this:

“Those Who Can Must Take a DREAMER In2 Their Home & Protect Them,” she wrote. “I’m Ready 2 Do This & Others in MY BUSINESS WILL DO THE SAME. SANCTUARY.”

Cher has often used social media to criticize President Donald Trump and express her liberal views, so the latest tweet is somewhat of a departure for her.

Many on Twitter were quick to note this.

Donald Trump, Jr., tweeted:

“Welcome to the Republican Party Cher!!! … Amazing, simply amazing. I guess the leftists are only pro illegals when they can lay the huge burden on someone else.”

From Tim Young:

“Cher is suddenly pro-nationalist, pro-veteran and America First. I expect her to be wearing a #MAGA hat at her next concert.”

Ben Shapiro tweeted:

“Wow Trump made Cher into a Republican”

From Michael Knowles:

‘ll never forget where I was and what I was doing the moment @Cher became a Republican.”

Has Trump caused Cher to change her views?

Time will tell, but Cher seems to be one of the many liberals who are realizing that there are consequences to the policies that they have advocated in the past, and that they are not all good, especially when they hit home.
